Who we are…

Luiza - Principal Instructor

I am an international chemical engineer and water treatment expert with vast and varied experience operating and managing public and private water and wastewater facilities throughout the United States of America and Eastern Europe.

I have a master’s in chemical engineering, a master’s in water technology, and a master’s in teaching.

I have been licensed as a Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator in Arizona, California, Florida and Georgia in the United States. I also am licensed and have experience in managing wastewater and distribution systems.

I started my 35-year career as a distribution technician in Eastern Europe, and again as a Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee when I came to the USA in 2005. I have operated and managed many different types of treatment infrastructure, from 1 MGD package plants to two 50 MGD conventional treatment plants with enhanced coagulation, ultrafiltration and reverse-osmosis facilities, and other various technology such as wells, arsenic, iron and manganese removal processes, carbon (PAC & GAC).

I grew from operator to Superintendent of Water for a water district, and held jobs in-between such as SCADA Operator, Supervising Chemist, Water Operations Manager, and Water Treatment Plants Manager.

My volunteer experience in the water industry is also extensive, having served as Chairperson for the American Water Works Association in Florida's Region 8, Treasurer of the Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Association, a member of the Arizona Women Leading Government organization, and a long-time member of the Arizona AWWA Water Treatment Committee.

I have won a number of awards (including Best AWWA Presentation, FSAWWA Conference 2023, and Directors Award, Partnership for Safe Water, State of Arizona, 2013), and have been very active in presenting, teaching, and mentoring for over 30 years!

Daniel - Training Developer

I have a degree in Public Works Engineering and worked in the Pacific Northwest of the USA for my career.

I served as a construction engineer for the City of Seattle Engineering and Water Departments and also worked for various private engineering firms in that region.

I was involved with building large piers, side-ship launches, industrial parks, buildings, water and wastewater facilities, and hydroelectric facilities, including tens of miles of large diameter steel pipelines and power transmission lines.

During my career, I specialized in construction material inspection, and was certified in metallurgy, welding inspection, non-destructive testing of steel fabrication, concrete and reinforced concrete, concrete testing, asphalt macadam, soils, and piling. I was also adept at surveying, CAD drafting, and construction management.

After I retired, I went back to school to learn computer business and graphic arts design.
